PrePrint Online papers will be searchable in Medline and citable by their assigned Digital Object Identifier (DOI). DOI and publication date will be included in the published PDF as well as in the accompanying abstract and Medline search results.

When citing a prepublished paper that has not yet appeared in a printed issue, we suggest following this example:

All PrePrint Online papers are subsequently proofread by the author(s), and are then published in their final form in the print and online versions of their respective journals about 4-8 weeks later. Final papers retain the DOI of the prepublished version. Papers are stored in a permanent archive which is accessible on the Internet.
