Risk of simultaneous phenotypic espression of hip and elbow displasia in dogs

Hip and elbow displasia are amongst the most common orthopaedic diseases associated with osteoarthritis in medium and large breed dogs. Both are commonly considered to be polygenetically inherited developmental abnormalities - only recently however has the role of a major gene been demonstrated in the development of hip displasia in some dog breeds.
