Even if pervasive healthcare is in the phase of being consolidated as a new research discipline there are still some aspects of it that remain ambiguous to the research community. The intention of the Special Topic "Pervasive Healthcare" in issue 1/2010 is to represent different facets of the current research and to clarify the vision towards future research in this field.
