Multi-resistant pathogens cause increasing problems in medical care. Although, the main attention of several studies is still focused on methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), there are several other pathogens that gain impact in clinical practice. Here, especially the mostly out-patient treated patients with chronic wounds are relevant. Particularly during the last years an increase of gram-negative bacteria (e.g. Pseudomoas aeruginosa, Echericha coli) has been seen. While these seemed to have their role in the inpatient-care system, now they gain increasing attention as well in the out-patient sector. Without a successful in- or out-patient eradication the pathogens are transferredbetween the sectors. The manuscript gives an overview of the 5 most important multi-resistant bacteria in current wound care.
