Issue 2/09: Special Topic "MIE 2008: eHealth Beyond the Horizon" - The 13 selected papers show the breadth of the field of Medical Informatics. Subjects that are covered are information needs determination, information interpretation, information communication, semantic interoperability, classification and ontologies, implementation issues, evaluation studies and image analysis.

In Issue 1/09 Special Topic on the Occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the Heidelberg/Heilbronn Curriculum of Medical Informatics: Internationally esteemed speakers from Germany, Austria, Sweden, and the USA were invited to describe the current status of selected important themes of medical informatics and to present their views, expectations and recommendations for the future. The Special Topic wants to contribute to the important and required debate on the future of medical informatics.
